What’s covered by a Motor Trade Insurance policy?
A good Motor Trade Insurance policy will contain a number of critical elements of cover:
Motor Trade Property / Material Damage – All Risks of physical loss of or damage to material property such as buildings, contents, tools, stock and machinery.
Employers Liability – Legal requirement to protect employees against accidents and injuries in the course of their work.
Public / Products Liability – Cover in respect of damages and injury caused to members of the public and their property by services and products supplied by you.
Defective Workmanship – Cover against improper repairs and defective vehicle sales.
Business Interruption – Interruption to the business following loss of or damage to property, keeping you in business following a claim
Wrongful Conversion – This section covers loss sustained by you in connection with any vehicle purchased by you in the UK during the period of insurance where:
- the lawful and rightful owner has substantiated a valid claim for the return of the vehicle or its value
- the person to whom you have contracted to sell the vehicle has substantiated a valid claim for damages for breach-implied warranty of title
Engineering Inspection – The principal purpose of periodic statutory inspection of plant and equipment is to detect and report deterioration that affects the safety of persons.
Road Risks – Loss of or damage to an insured vehicle and its accessories either by accidental damage or by Fire and Theft. Extensions include Loan and Hire, Demonstration and Third Party Damage.
