Some examples of Motor Trade Insurance claims

Whilst a mechanic was out test driving a customer’s car after the vehicle had been serviced the car was hit in the rear by a third party who failed to stop. The comprehensive road risks section of the policy dealt with this claim.

Whilst servicing a vehicle a junior mechanic failed to tighten a sump plug after an oil change. The new oil in the engine drained out of the bottom causing the engine to seize. The defective workmanship section dealt with the garages claim.

A garage was broken into overnight and their portable hand tools were stolen. After confirming the garage had met their security requirements by chaining the tools to the fabric of the building the insurers dealt with the garages claim under the Material damage section of the policy.
